    I had been living in the USA for the past 20 years and upon my return to Australia had no references or any idea what to do about renting decent accommodation. I put in an application to Rain & Horne in Gisborne for a home close to my daughter. Kristy Bransden called me and guided me through and helped me get my first rental in Australia.

    Kristy is probably the most obliging and helpful person I have ever dealt with. She is warm, friendly and explained the whole process to both my husband and myself.

    Kristy also worked with the landlord explaining our situation and we ended up in a brand new home in a quiet neighbourhood which was way beyond our expectations.

    If you are looking for someone to follow through and address your needs, the Raine & Horne are a reliable and accommodating agents. Suzanne who also works at Raine & Horne, helped me with any queries we had.

    I gave them a 5 star rating because their service is outstanding.

    In October 2018, my friend Hayley and I signed our first ever lease together. We were both nervous and very excited, to finally have our own place. Little did we know the stress and inconvenience that we were about to be put through.

    Tayla Polidano, a real-estate agent that works at Raine and Horne Gisborne, is one of the most unreliable, uncontactable and overall unprofessional agents I know – and now that I have ended my lease with Raine and Horne and have started a new lease with another agency, I know how a real agent is meant to act.

    On more occasions than I can count she has failed to reply fully, or at all to emails, answer phone calls or call me back after I have left a message/s (I have left messages both with her co-workers and on her voicemail) unless she needed something from me, in which case she would reply immediately and often completely ignore parts of my emails.
    Hayley and I waited a month for Tayla to give confirmation as to whether we could get the NBN connected, which resulted in me going over my data multiple times as I work from home. Once she told us that we could get it connected and that the landlord would pay back the $300 set up fee – we didn’t hear anything about it for months. Even with me constantly following up on the issue (I have only just received the $300 today, two months after my lease has ended).

    As our lease was coming to an end, I let Tayla know that we did not want to renew the lease. She responded in a reasonable time about the dates of us moving out and told me that she would send through a “copy of the final inspection guide & vacating letter” which I was never sent. Had I not brought up getting the carpet cleaned myself, I wouldn’t have been aware of having to get it done.

    On the 16th of April our last payment for rent was processed out of my account. I was later reminded by a friend that we would’ve paid the last month’s rent at the start of the lease. I followed this up with Tayla and after a lot of hassle, eventually got a hold of her. To which she confirmed we had already paid for and that she would process the money ($3,216) to be put into my bank account, which was only processed after I contacted R&H’s Head Office – and in my opinion took far too long, especially for that large of an amount. She also told me on that same call that the landlord was in a “tough time” and couldn’t afford to pay me back the $300 NBN fee right at that moment and that she would take it out of the new tenants rent for me. Which I agreed to, and waited patiently for. As stated, I only just received the last of the owed money this morning.

    The moral of my review is that I regret ever signing with Raine & Horne Gisborne and hope that this will make others reconsider binding themselves (and a substantial amount of their money) to them too.

    If it wasn't for the beautiful house, I wouldn't lease from these agents. As long as you pay on time, they don't ever respond to your emails, urgent or non-urgent. Same as phone calls, no call backs. I'm sure if I paid rent late they'd be hounding me.

    The only communication in 6 months was a letter for notice of inspection. Not a single reply to more than 6 emails.

    Disappointing.

    Following application for a rental, which was initiated at the end of December, dealings with an agent from Raine&Horne have been pathetic. Upon us having to follow this application up after the property viewed, she refused to answer her mobile several times, this was then followed by refusal to take the call through the office and eventually when she was phoned on a private line which she answered. This call was simply so we could be informed as to whether we had been successful for a rental we were quite fond of.
    I quote from this agents profile "I am passionate about Real Estate and strive to apply high levels of professionalism to get the job done right every time! —Lynda".
    This dealing has displayed high levels of unprofessionalism and her attitude has been anything but 'passionate!'
